All Worlds Wayfarer: Through Other Eyes

Honored to announce the inclusion of my story ‘Wolf’s Bane’ in this lovely anthology. I wrote this twisted tale in one of Storied Imaginarium‘s wonderful fairy tale courses. Inspired by Little Red Riding Hood and the color red module, I discovered a wolf woman named Terra who had a story to tell.

All thirty of the included tales will take you on a journey through non-human eyes.

Release date December 15, 2020. Now available for preorder at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

e-book

“Stories take us beyond the bounds of our own lives—into new worlds and new situations. Perhaps most importantly, they invite us into new minds. Through the eyes of the characters we temporarily become, we not only live other lives, but discover new ways of looking at our own. Speculative fiction takes us a step farther—beyond the bounds of humanity, itself.

In Through Other Eyes, the first All Worlds Wayfarer anthology, immerse yourself in 30 unique stories featuring non-human protagonists, from aliens to dragons and monsters to mythical beings. Become someone—and something—else.” All Worlds Wayfarer

First draft is done!

The shitty first draft is done! Coming in at 54,777 words, it has some growing and refining to go, but the bones are all there.

Thanks to my wonderful editor/mentor/teacher Richard Thomas and my comrades in his Novel in a Year workshop for helping me make it less shitty than it would have been writing on my own. Huge thanks go out to them for all their feedback and support along the way!

Also, so much love and gratitude to my wonderful friends Carina Bissett and Katherine Wagner, without whose support I wouldn’t have gotten words on the page as many days as I did.

And my amazing husband, Gary Slye, who has always been my greatest cheerleader and dedicated reader, I cannot express how thankful I am for everything he does.

Thanks to my mother, Donna Royer, who introduced me to Dr. Seuss and Stephen King and gave me a love of reading and horror.

Last, but not least, the ever-supportive writing community of which I can’t list all the people who have cheered, listened, and offered encouragement along the way. You all are the best!

And yes, you will see these again once I finish the final draft, again when I find a publisher, and again when my book is published lol.

Now on to revisions!

More Publication News

Honored to announce that my short story Wolf’s Bane will be published in Through Other Eyes anthology by All World’s Wayfarer, and my poem Witch’s Garden will be published in the Fall Issue of Hypnos Magazine.

Both the story and poem were first written in Carina Bissette’s fabulous Intersections: Science Fiction, Fairy Tales, and Myth workshop from The Storied Imaginarium.

Updates to follow when cover reveals and publication drop dates are announced.

Long overdue update

The novel is coming along well. Nine chapters in and at the halfway point of the first draft. Richard Thomas’s Novel in a Year class has been great support, and this first draft is much tidier than it would have been if I’d written it on my own. Fantastic group of seven other writers who are turning in some fabulous stuff. So much fun to watch these stories develop!

Finished Carina Bissett’s fabulous Intersections: Science Fiction, Fairy Tale and Myth class last week. Ended with six new stories. Two of which are close to polished. And explored some wonderful fairy tales and science with another amazing group of writers. If you ever get the chance to take one of Carina’s classes, I highly recommend them!

Revisions are taking a bit of a backseat, but four from my list of twenty are now complete and out on submission. With simultaneous submissions, one complete story from Intersections, and a couple poems, I currently have twelve submissions out. No acceptances yet this year, but a couple nice personal rejections. Working on hitting that hundred mark this year.

Other than that, staying in except for my daily walks. Saw a woman walking two Capybaras! That’s been the highlight of my walks lately.

Stay safe and take care of yourselves! ❤

Happy New Year 2020!

A quick post to lay out my goals for the coming year.

Biggest goal this year is writing my first novel with Storyville Studio’s Novel in a Year. It’s a supernatural horror coming-of-age story set in the 1980s. I’ll be digging deep for this one, and I expect it will be dark, tense, disturbing and leave you thinking about it for a good while. I’ll update with snippets and inspirations as the story evolves.

I also plan to revise, polish, and submit sixteen flash and short story pieces currently waiting to be finished.

Write six new stories for The Storied Imaginarium’s Intersections: Science Fiction, Fairy Tales and Myth

Write at least three new stories for The New York City Midnight Challenge depending on how many rounds I make it through.

Collect 100 rejections and a few acceptances for submitted work.

And, read fifty two books.

That’s it for now. Have a great year!
